COVID UPDATE – MONDAY – VIRUS IN HAWKESBURY – COLBEE PARK BMX TRACK CLOSED – WINDSOR RIVERVIEW ALERT

Jul 11, 2021

Here are the venues of concern in the Hawkesbury just released by NSW Health – and it includes Riverview Shopping Centre at Windsor.

McGraths Hill BMX track, Bismarck Street – Colbee Park

Wednesday 7 July

11am – 1pm

Windsor Riverview Shopping Centre

227 George Street

Wednesday 7 July

1.30pm – 3pm

NSW Health say if you were at either of those venues during those dates and times you would be a “casual contact who must immediately get tested and isolate until a negative result is received. Please continue to monitor for symptoms and immediately isolate and get tested if they develop.”

We’ve got a separate story on the Colbee Park BMX Track at McGraths Hill which is now closed and soon to undergo a deep clean after a school-age child with Covid visited there on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday last week.

There’s also a student at Hawkesbury High – we don’t know at this stage if this is the same student who was at the BMX Track – who has a confirmed case of Covid. The student will stay in isolation until he or she has recovered.

School Principal Igor Maric sent a letter to parents this morning saying the student got Covid during the school holidays – which finish tomorrow – and all close contacts had been identified and tested. The school remains safe, said Mr Maric, and will be open for children of essential workers, or for anyone else who needs their children at school.

Earlier this morning – at 11am and onwards, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealed there are 112 additional NSW cases – 34 infectious in the community – five cases are in the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD which includes three cases in the Hawkesbury – those are the child, and we are told, the parents, so it’s in one household.

NSW Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant said this about NSW cases this morning, “we have got 18 people in ICU, four of whom are ventilated. Twenty-five people admitted to hospital at the moment are under the age of 55 and 14 are under the age of 35.

“Of the people in ICU, we have one in their 20s, one in their 30s, one in their 40s, five in their 50s, six in their 60s, three in their 70s and one in their 80s.

“That is dispelling the notion that you are not going to get sick from Covid if you’re young,” she said.

We will, of course, bring you more as we get it.
