COVID UPDATE – TUES – 78 NEW NSW CASES – 21 INFECTIOUS IN COMMUNITY – HAWKESBURY CASES STEADY

Jul 20, 2021

“If you don’t have symptoms don’t assume you don’t have the virus,” says the Premier this morning, speaking from 11am.

In the last 24 hours to 8pm, there were 78 new cases of community transmission – with the all important number of 21 infectious in the community, a number which is not budging much.

That number needs to come down to as low as zero as possible before the lockdown is lifted.

In the Hawkesbury, we still have 6 known cases of COVID, with the sources of those infections known by NSW Health.

Fragments of the COVID virus were detected at the most recent test carried out in the Hawkesbury at McGraths Hill sewage location a week ago today.

Hawkesbury COVID testing numbers continue to increase with a total of 12,303 now recorded.

There were just over 63,000 tests in the last 24 hours across NSW.

When people are getting the virus, said the Premier, it’s mostly in workplaces and then brought back into the household.

She said younger people are increasingly getting the virus.

“All of us have to be on our guard. Workplaces and households are the two main causes of concern,” she said. .

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kerry Chant said, “now is the time for minimising your interactions with others.”
