Covid Update – Wednesday – more restrictions for Hawkesbury from 4pm
No known Covid cases in the Hawkesbury, but overnight there have been 16 new cases in Sydney, some unlinked but most connected to a birthday party which was held on Sunday in south eastern Sydney.
So, enhanced restrictions announced just now from 4pm today for a week, and the Hawkesbury is included:
Masks to be worn at work, at sports or outdoor events, in gyms, shops, public transport.
No more than 5 people to visit any single household, and that includes children.
20 people allowed at gyms but they must all wear masks.
No standing up at bars, cafes, restaurants, pubs, you must be seated and must be wearing a mask except when eating or drinking.
“We do not want any mingling,” Premier Berejiklian said just now. What we haven’t seen before is the contagious nature of this [Delta version] virus.”
No singing or dancing at events or places of worship, but 20 people can dance at weddings.
The 1 person per 4 square metre rule is back, which as the Premier said, “will have an impact on funerals and weddings”.
Sporting events – 50 per cent capacity and everyone must wear a mask at all times.
Workplaces – everyone must wear a mask at work.
Concerts – and other organised events – everyone must wear a mask.
If you live in one of the 7 Local Government Areas in Sydney which were seeing restrictions last week – that doesn’t include the Hawkesbury – you should not leave them, and should not enter them if you don’t live there.
“Please abandon non essential activities,” said the Premier. “We don’t want people moving around unless essential.”
