Ex-Hawkesbury MP Perrottet wins leadership ballot and becomes NSW Premier
For four years – 2015-2019 – he was Hawkesbury’s state MP, and this morning Dominic Perrottet has been voted in by his colleagues as parliamentary leader of the Liberal Party and our new NSW Premier.
Gladys Berejiklian now officially steps down to face ICAC questions and will also vacate her seat of Willougby.
The new Deputy Leader is Penrith MP Stuart Ayres who has been leading the push to raise Warragamba Dam wall, which will have several potential consequences for the Hawkesbury if it goes ahead.
“It’s an honour and absolute privilege to be elected as the parliamentary leader of the Liberal party, the premier of New South Wales”, said the new Premier a short while ago.
“I really appreciate the trust my colleagues have put in me today, and we’ll have more to say a bit later in about an hour’s time,” he said.
