Hundreds of dollars in funds for Hawkesbury residents who can’t go to work at shuttered businesses

Jun 27, 2021

Payments of up to $500 under the COVID-19 Disaster Payment scheme will be handed to eligible Hawkesbury residents because we’re now in a Commonwealth declared Covid hotspot.

If you can’t attend work as a result of state imposed health restrictions lasting greater than one week – a lockdown to you and I – you will be able to claim from July 4.

The Australian Government Chief Medical Officer has declared Greater Sydney – which includes the Hawkesbury – the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast and Wollongong, COVID-19 hotspots for the purposes of Commonwealth support – and that means some financial aid will soon be available for those who work at businesses which have had to close due to lockdown.

Eligible people will receive $500 if they’ve lost 20 hours or more of work, and $325 if they’ve lost less than 20 hours of work.

They must not have liquid assets of more than $10,000, or be in receipt of other payments.

The original seven LGAs that were declared on the June 23 – City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside, and Woollahra will have their COVID-19 Disaster Payments available from the July 1.

Further information will be made available when this payment comes into effect.

Other payments that may be available to eligible people include Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment and JobSeeker Payment.
