Protestor arrested outside Hawkesbury Council offices as anti-lockdown group gather

Aug 31, 2021

At least one person – believed to be a man – has been arrested by police this morning after a small group – around 15 people – gathered outside Hawkesbury Council to protest against the lockdown and call into question the existence of COVID.

Some were not wearing masks and the group is likely to be in contravention of orders against gatherings of more than 2 people.

They are part of a protest called Silent Stand which is being replicated in other Sydney areas and also in Melbourne.

It kicked off at 9am this morning and Hawkesbury police – who had already been alerted to the plans – were quickly on scene with 5 police vehicles, arresting one person – we’ll have more specifics on that soon.

Last night, the Post contacted one of the organisers of the local event who lives in the Hawkesbury so we could give their side of the story. She wouldn’t supply any details, saying, “media has been a slight problem in this whole saga”.

One man was wearing a t-shirt, which said, “for a disease so deadly you have to be tested to know you have it”.

When we get more information we’ll let you know.
