Victorious Aussie eventers secure a ticket to Paris Olympics
The Australian eventing team has secured a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics after a stunning win in Ireland overnight at the Olympic qualifier.
In a display of experience and skill, the formidable team comprising of four riders, including three former Olympians Andrew Hoy, Shane Rose, and Kevin McNab, alongside the talented rising star Shenae Lowings, dominated the Olympic qualifier at the Millstreet International Horse Trials from start to finish.
Adding to the team’s triumph, Shenae Lowings, the squad’s only female rider and the youngest member, left a lasting impression with her exceptional performance. Not only did she contribute significantly to the team’s victory, but she also achieved a breathtaking double win by securing the individual title astride her 12-year-old off the track thoroughbred, Bold Venture.
The Hawkesbury, renowned for its rich equestrian history and unwavering love for horses, has served as an ideal nurturing ground for accomplished riders. Many Australian team members have honed their skills, trained diligently, and embraced a deep passion for the sport within this vibrant horse-loving community.
With their outstanding achievement in Ireland, the members of this team will be looking to secure a spot on the team chosen to represent Australia at Paris Olympics in 2024.
Australia will be looking to one better their performance this time. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics they bought home a silver team medal and Andrew Hoy secured individual bronze.
Congratulations to all competitors and Australian eventing.
