Warragamba Dam 100% full this morning – rain coming this week
The water level in Warragamba Dam, which when it spills ultimately feeds into the Hawkesbury River, is at 100 per cent full this morning – Sunday – with rain due to fall over the Hawkesbury and the dam’s catchment area for much of this coming week.
The amount of water in the dam has increased by 3.7 per cent this week. Yesterday Water NSW, who operate the dam, let more water out than usual (water is let out of the dam daily for flushing purposes).
Water from the dam is also pumped to Prospect Reservoir where it is treated before being sent to Sydneysiders for their water supply.
There are currently no flood warnings for the Hawkesbury, but we’ll keep you up to date on any developments.
