World famous NSW Police Band to perform in Richmond for Seniors Festival

Australia’s oldest and longest continuously running concert band is set to appear at Richmond Club on April 14 to perform a free concert as part of the NSW Senior’s Festival.

Getting the Police Band is something of a coup for Hawkesbury Police and is in large part thanks to Chief Inspector Garry Sims APM, Customer Service Duty Officer for Hawkesbury Police Area Command, who will be at the concert on his last official event before he transfers to the Blue Mountains Command.

“Seniors in the Hawkesbury are an important part of who we are and it is our pleasure to contribute to the NSW Seniors Festival,” said the Chief Inspector.

Superintendent Jim Stewart, Commander of Hawkesbury Police Area Command, will welcome seniors from the community at the concert, which has been organised as part of the local police contribution to the NSW Seniors Festival.

The NSW Police Band is Australia’s oldest and longest continuously running concert band. Formed in 1895, in 2020 the band commemorated 125 years of service. Often regarded as The State Band of NSW it is one of only two full-time police bands in the country.

Hawkesbury MP Robyn Preston will also be at the concert, as will the Hon. Dr Geoff Lee, Minister for Seniors and Veterans, who will meet and speak with our seniors.
