$4.8 million upgrade promised for North Richmond’s Turnbull Oval
Happy, smiley people, and why not with $4.8m on the table for Oval upgrade…
Another funding announcement as the state election moves ever closer and this time it’s the turn of North Richmond’s Turnbull Oval, which the Coalition is promising will receive a $4.8 million upgrade thanks to money from the $5 billion WestInvest program, plus an as yet undisclosed co-investment from Hawkesbury Council.
In total some 74 projects across local government areas are being funded out of WestInvest – that’s a total of more than $400million so far.
But back to Turnbull Oval, where the $4.8m will be spent on a grandstand, a new clubhouse with a commercial grade kitchen and amenities block, improved playing fields and netball courts, a new playground, perimeter fencing and car park upgrade.
Hawkesbury MP Robyn Preston said the funding announcement was a great win for North Richmond.
“I know that the clubs at Turnbull Oval are particularly thrilled with this funding,” said the MP, who did point out the Oval is the only field west of Hawkesbury that hosts rugby league competitions.
“The cricket and netball clubs at the ground will also benefit from this sport infrastructure upgrade,” said Ms Preston.
For its part, Hawkesbury Council is developing designs and a funding model which will then be considered by councillors as part of the council’s co-funding of the project.
