A fun dayout at Hawkesbury Fest
After a three-year hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and devastating floods, the Hawkesbury Fest made a triumphant return, treating the community to a day of laughter, connection, and vibrant festivities. The event, held as part of Local Government Week, welcomed residents and visitors alike to a fun day out.
Hawkesbury Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett expressed her delight, stating, “It was a delightful event, in such a beautiful location. There was a wonderful atmosphere as people wandered between great entertainment, food, stalls and many service tents giving information on various Council and community related services. A fantastic day out!”
Councillor Danielle Wheeler echoed the sentiment, highlighting the event’s significance in reconnecting the community. “Hawkesbury Fest gives the community a great opportunity to talk to staff and community organisations, and to see what activities and services they can make best use of. We’ve had a difficult few years and staff have worked hard to keep people connected. It was great to see so many people out collecting free plants, emergency bags, chatting to library staff, and venting their frustrations about roads and potholes. I wasn’t sure Hawkesbury Fest had a future as a stand alone event but Sunday showed that it has a really useful place in out Events Calendar,” Cr Wheeler said
The event not only brought a sense of unity and joy to the community but also signaled the resilience and determination of the Hawkesbury residents in the face of adversity.
