Angry residents and ratepayers demonstrate outside council offices

Nov 24, 2020

A group of placard-waving Hawkesbury residents who say they want answers to the question as to why ex-General Manager Peter Conroy resigned and left council within three days, have demonstrated outside Hawkesbury council offices early this evening just before a regular council meeting.

One of the organisers told the Post they had seen ex-Mayor Barry Calvert and Liberal councillor Sarah Richards enter the building.

“We politely asked Cllr Richards could she please explain why the GM was

invited to resign,” said the spokesperson.

“Both Cllr Calvert and Cllr Richards ignored the group and went straight in 90 minutes before the start of the meeting. We want answers and we are entitled to them,” said the demo spokesperson.

“So many community groups are disappointed as he was a breath of fresh air after previous GMs,” said the spokesperson.
