Battery World switches on in the Hawkesbury with locals Ash and Sarah
Hawkesbury locals Ashley and Sarah Navin – already well known for their local auto electrical business – are behind the new Battery World store in Mulgrave.
The Kurmond couple say they had been trying to get the business up and running for a while, but the pandemic, lockdowns, bushfires and floods delayed the opening.
Ash said the decision to invest in Battery World – it’s a global franchise – was made after they explored other business opportunities in the region.
“We wanted to diversify our existing auto electrical business, so we searched for a brand with a proven network and successful business model with a focus on supporting franchise partners.
“Naturally we did our due diligence and Battery World also proved to be resilient during COVID because it is an essential service.”
When they saw the opportunity to open a new store in the Hawkesbury, it motivated the couple to commit to Battery World. They both already had a background in auto electrics through their mobile business Auto Logix, which they’ll also set up in the Battery World outlet.
“After researching the opportunities available, it was clear that Battery World was the best choice for us thanks to its strong network commitment, excellent customer service and high quality, Aussie-made products,” Ashley said.
“Being an essential service was also part of our motivation to secure a local franchise,” he said.
Battery World’s product range is vast, covering everything from small coin size and AAA batteries, right up to car and truck batteries, and also has a large footprint in marine batteries, which the couple say was another drawcard thanks to the Hawkesbury River being a magnet for boats, jet skis and camping.
“This area is made for water sports, water skiing and recreational boating – all are a big part of the local lifestyle,” Ashley said.
“It seems every second house has a boat or jetski.
“So we’ll offer a larger than usual marine range of products than you would see in a typical Battery World showroom to enable the local community to power their passion on the water.”
As Hawkesbury residents themselves, Sarah said they planned to be involved in the local community through sponsorships, and supporting local sport was a natural fit with their own passion for soccer.
“We intend to sponsor a local soccer club as both our children play. Another passion of ours is getting involved with younger drivers who have just got their licence. We see this as a genuine way of letting them know we’re here and trustworthy should a breakdown call-out be needed.
“In the future, we hope to be a part of other community events that have been impacted by COVID.”
Battery World Hawkesbury will offer a touring and camping section too, as well as COVID-safe click and collect, in-store pickup, phone and website orders, and home delivery to make it easier for customers during lockdown.
Battery World’s General Manager, Johnny Kennedy said he was proud to witness increased confidence in the Battery World brand and additional investment in new territories like the Hawkesbury.
“Even through all the uncertainty, it’s exciting to see a new store being backed by locals like Ashley and Sarah,” Johnny said.
“Both have already demonstrated their commitment to quality customer service and expanded product expertise so they can deliver exceptional service to the people of the Hawkesbury.”
