Bligh Park U13 girls soccer team advances to grand finals after 15 Years
Bligh Park Football Club’s junior girls soccer team has secured a spot in the Under 13’s grand final after a remarkable 15-year hiatus.Â
Bligh Park FC’s junior girls’ soccer team had long been absent from competitive play, however, this season marked a turning point as the club managed to rally a group of passionate young girls to form a team that would challenge the status quo. The team’s resurgence has been met with immense enthusiasm, highlighting the growing interest and support for girls’ grassroots football.
Under the guidance of Coach Sally Roberts, who has a commendable history of fostering young talents, the team’s progress has been nothing short of spectacular. Sally, who began her coaching journey with a mixed team of under 6 kids in 2016, has guided this group of dedicated girls. Her coaching philosophy, coupled with the determination of the players, has proven to be a winning combination.
A significant portion of the current team has been honing their skills under Sally’s guidance for years. Five of the girls initially played together in Sally’s mixed team. While three girls are new to the world of soccer, their rapid integration into the team speaks volumes about the inclusive and nurturing environment fostered by the Bligh Park Football Club.
Despite being categorised as an under 13’s team, the roster boasts a mix of ages, with the youngest players being just 11 years old.Â
The team’s includes a diverse group of young athletes. Players such as Eden, Taylor, Emily, Annalyse, Piper, Felicity, Tya, Lilly, Evie, Mela, Shante, Sierra, Nikita, and Amelia have worked tirelessly to reach this pinnacle moment in their soccer journeys. Their dedication, grit, and camaraderie have shone through in every match they’ve contested.
As the team prepares for tomorrow morning’s grand final match, the club is rallying behind them.
