COVID by the numbers in the Hawkesbury – Sunday September 5

Sep 5, 2021

Welcome to today’s in-depth round-up of Hawkesbury COVID numbers, compiled by Kevin Pollard, who has trawled NSW Health’s latest daily numbers and put them together in an easily accessible form, allowing you to see the numbers in your suburb.

Coupled with our regular news updates when we hear about new COVID venues, this builds into a useful daily source of information for Hawkesbury residents.

We also take a look at the overall numbers around hospitalisations, which have doubled in 2 weeks, and we examine the numbers of those under the age of 30 who have COVID across NSW.

Today’s headline figures:

In the last 24 hours there were 13 new cases in the Hawkesbury LGA – all of which are from an unknown source and not linked.

There are 138 active COVID cases in the Hawkesbury, 75 of which are from an unknown source.

Of the 1485 new NSW cases (was 1533 yesterday) reported to 8pm last night, 87 (was 96 yesterday) are from Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, which includes the Hawkesbury.

Ages of people under 30 with COVID across NSW

We thought we’d take quick look at the number of young people – below the age of 30 – with COVID. These are numbers across NSW, and they’re concerning.

Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (SCHN) is supporting more than 2000 children with COVID in NSW – not all are in hospital, some are being treated at home.

A baby and a 9 year old – who are both being treated for COVID – have been placed on ventilators in a NSW hospital this last week – neither are from the Hawkesbury.

Three children (aged under 12) with COVID are in intensive care (ICU) at Sydney Children’s Hospital. All 3 have underlying health conditions.

Ages of those below 30 in NSW hospitals since the Delta outbreak began on June 16.

0-4 years – 55

5-11 years – 50

12-17 years – 70

18-29 years – 450

COVID cases in our hospitals – numbers double in 2 weeks…

Up until 8pm, August 20 – there were 516 people in hospital, 85 in ICU, 29 of whom required ventilation – there were 11,434 Delta cases, and 72 deaths.

But since that report – two weeks later – we’ve had a further 16,573 cases and the number of people in hospital, ICU and on a ventilator has doubled.

Up until 8pm, September 4 – there are 1030 patients in hospital, with 175 in ICU, 72 of whom require ventilation, – there are now 28,007 known Delta cases, and there have been 127 deaths.

Big thanks to Kevin Pollard for crunching the numbers.
