Fundraising Hope Trek from Hawkesbury to Cowra on the road soon
The Hawkesbury’s Hope4you Foundation is all about reaching out to communities and supporting each other with mental health and educating about prevention of suicide, and the group’s first major fundraising event promises something different.
“I get calls from all over the state but I get probably the most calls from Cowra area,” says Hope4you founder and CEO Diane Russell.
“So I was thinking, how could I hold a fundraiser as well as speak about suicide prevention? So at the start of the year I decided to organise a Hawkesbury to Cowra Trek.
“Suicide prevention and awareness of the struggles for our community after the floods, fires, and Covid has put a big strain on families,” says Ms Russell.
All vehicles taking part in the May event should have been made before 1993, which gives it a bit of a twist and some fun, and fundraising is via an entry fee, and there’s a free lunch and fundraising dinner too and Cowra Showground camping.
“Hawkesbury’s Clarendon Showgrounds have been wonderful and we are starting there, meeting at 6am on Saturday May 6,” Ms Russell says.
“I have a great team of ambassadors for Hope4u foundation that get behind with great ideas to support what the foundation does.”
Hope4u foundation appreciates donations to keep the doors open so they can continue running mental heath workshops on grief and loss after suicide, counselling, and providing education days on anxiety and depression, PTSD, and self harm.
