Hawkesbury Return and Earn reopens – but pick your time…
Return and Earn sites across the Hawkesbury are open once again as lockdown restrictions are slightly eased across our local government area, but pick your time – or check out the myTOMRA app first – because queues formed outside Richmond’s R&E this morning well before the 7am opening time.
Kurrajong residents Andrew and Elizabeth Docking have picked up a massive amount of dumped cans and bottles during lockdown as they went out for their daily exercise and were at the Richmond R&E before 7am this morning to dump a whole car load off.

They decided to take their carload of containers back another time rather than waiting this morning in the queue.
“I’d suggest using the myTOMRA app,” Mrs Docking said, “as this will indicate if both the glass stations and plastic/can stations are open, as they will likely fill quickly!”
The free myTOMRA app gives a fast, secure, and convenient payout of your container deposit refund, as well as letting you know how full the centres are.

The Richmond R&E, officially called the Woolworths Richmond Race Club Return and Earn, is at 312 Londonderry Rd, Richmond.
The other Hawkesbury facility is called Woolworths Aventus McGraths Hill, and that is open until 10pm seven days a week at Windsor Rd near Officeworks.
The Council’s general refuse tip at the Driftway has also reopened to the public. Anyone going to the tip must, of course, wear a mask and keep appropriate social distancing, and payments will only be made by EFTPOS.
Thanks to Elizabeth Docking for the pictures
