Hawkesbury SES would very much like to cut up your car, truck or farm machinery…
…but for good reasons. They’re renowned for helping people – in some cases rescuing folks from crashed cars – so Hawkesbury SES have put out a plea for more old bangers so they can train more of their volunteers in rescue operations.
They’ll even send out a tow truck for free to pick up donated vehicles, so if you’ve been wondering how to get rid of that old car, truck, or bit of farm machinery, here’s your chance.
“Each year we need multiple cars to train new rescue operators and keep our current operators updated on new methods of rescuing people from persons trapped accidents,” says Hawkesbury SES’s Matt Thornton.
“We are currently running low on these cars and are asking the community to help us out,” says Matt.
Ideally they could do with as many as 10 vehicles, so if you have one – or even several – sitting in your paddock or unused in the garage, give them a shout.
You can call Matt on 0438 676 688 and he will arrange for a tow truck to come and pick up your old vehicle.
The local unit is set to start a course for 10 new operators, to teach them the skills, and they also have a team competing in the Australasian Rescue Challenge next month so if you have an old vehicle sitting around gathering rust an cluttering up your property, give Matt a shout as soon as possible.
And just in case you wondered, yes all donations will be destroyed while training.
