Hawkesbury U12 Rugby advances to grand finals
In a display of determination and grit, the Hawkesbury Valley U12 Rugby Team journeyed to St. Luke’s at Concord on the weekend. Their mission: a high-stakes clash in the 1 vs 4 semi-final against the formidable Briars Rugby Team. The stakes were high as Briars held the minor premiership title, while Hawkesbury secured the 4th position. The season’s trials and tribulations had seen more losses than victories, yet the Hawkesbury team had shown tenacity and skill that culminated in a well-deserved semi-final spot.
The face-offs between Briars and Hawkesbury had been intense, with three encounters throughout the season. Briars had emerged victorious twice, adding to the anticipation and tension surrounding this semi-final bout.Â
With the semi-final behind them, the Hawkesbury team faces a grand challenge as they prepare to take on the Forest Rugby Club in the upcoming grand finals. Forest Rugby Club boasts an unblemished record of 3-0 against Hawkesbury. However, recent history has revealed that the last two games between these rivals were tightly contested, with a mere 2-point gap setting them apart. The stage is set for an exhilarating rematch that promises to keep spectators on the edge of their seats.
Deerubbin Park in Windsor will host the highly anticipated grand finals this week. With three fields set to witness the best U11 and U12 talents from across Sydney, the event is primed to be a celebration of grassroots rugby excellence. A total of 18 games, all of which are grand finals, will grace the fields, showcasing the dedication and skill of these young athletes.
Spectators can indulge in a feast of flavours from the BBQ, canteen, and coffee van while supporting grassroots sports.
Good Luck boys!
