Large store fire in Penrith causing traffic problems this morning…

Dec 13, 2021

If you’re travelling into Penrith this morning, Police advise they have closed roads around a large building fire, as firefighters continue to battle the store blaze which started around 1.20am.

The road closures are expected to affect traffic in the area.

Emergency services were called to Henry Street and found a store well alight early this morning.

As Fire and Rescue NSW continues to work to extinguish the blaze, Police have closed Henry Street between Station Street and Gaymark Lane. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The building has had significant structural damage and, once the fire has been extinguished and the site secured, it will be assessed by engineers.

There has been no reports of injuries, say police.

An investigation is now underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire, and anyone with information or dashcam vision from the area at the time, is urged to contact police.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
