Macaw brought down to earth in South Windsor

You might ask why a bird would need to be rescued from a tree – couldn’t it just fly down…?

But that was the task confronting Hawkesbury SES Unit when they were called to South Windsor earlier this week where a young Macaw that had escaped from her home was sitting high up in a large eucalyptus tree and just wouldn’t come down.

With the help of the team from Windsor’s Fire and Rescue 081 the bird was given a bit of a wet down with a hose until it gave up its grip and made a soggy flutter down to the ground
and into the arms of a very relieved owner.
