A low pressure system and trough over northwestern NSW is bringing significant rain and widespread thunderstorms during the weekend as it slowly moves east. Another system is expected to move into western New South Wales later Sunday and then move east early next week, bringing further rain and thunderstorms over the state. This rainfall may cause new and renewed flooding along rivers in parts of New South Wales Central West and South West Inland catchments from late Saturday, many of which are experiencing ongoing flooding due to previous rainfall in recent months.
This weather system is also likely to affect coastal catchments including the Wollombi Brook, Lower Hunter, Hawkesbury Nepean and Colo Rivers from late Saturday into Sunday, says BOM.
