MON COVID UPDATE – 2nd STAFF CASE AT HAWKESBURY VILLAGE – 9 NEW HAWKESBURY CASES -1281 NEW NSW CASES
There are 9 new COVID cases reported in the Hawkesbury in the last 24 hours, bring the total number of active cases to 147.
There is also a second staff member at Richmond’s Hawkesbury Village aged care home who has tested positive for COVID. So far, no residents have tested positive.
The first positive case at the Chapel Street home was a catering contractor at the Uniting Hawkesbury Richmond service last week.
The second staff case – relatives were told over the weekend – appears not to be linked to the first case, according to the home’s email to relatives. The staff member tested positive for COVID, following a precautionary regular test.
Testing at the home for COVID is being carried out daily.
Over 90% of residents and employees at the home have received their COVID-19 vaccination, with the majority double vaccinated.
In NSW in the last 24 hours, there are an additional 1281 cases of COVID.
Other numbers today – there have been 131 COVID-19 related deaths in NSW since 16 June 2021, and 187 in total since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 29,253 locally acquired cases reported since 16 June 2021, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.
There are currently 1071 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 177 people in intensive care, 67 of whom require ventilation.
There were 136,455 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 115,495.
