One million free trees to help with fire and flood devastation recovery – get yours now
The number of trees lost during both the bushfire emergency of 2019-20 and the floods we’re all still recovering from has been massive – nobody has a number for downed trees but you can be sure it’s a big one.
Well, the good news is, individuals, community groups or organisations in the Hawkesbury can apply to receive free trees in a new grant from The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife (FNPW), the charity partner of Australia’s national parks.
Through the Bushfire Restoration Tree Planting Grants, FNPW aims to support those who are working to bring communities together to restore the bush that was left scarred by the 2019-2020 bushfires.
FNPW is partnering with Hawkesbury Community Nursery to support flood and bushfire recovery efforts in the region.
The FNPW Bushfire Recovery Project aims to plant one million trees in bushfire impacted areas across Australia. The key areas of focus for the Bushfire Recovery Program are:
· Restore – lost habitat by replanting native vegetation, and protecting natural regeneration
· Rebuild – rebuild or replace lost nursery assets
· Grow – a healthy and natural environment to enhance ecosystems and services
· Support – local communities to become more resilient
