Richmond man found in paddock charged after alleged early morning break-in at Grose Vale servo

A 52-year-old Richmond man has been charged with aggravated break and enter after an alleged break-in at the Grose Vale servo and post office on Grose Vale Rd early this morning.

 

At 5am today – Saturday – police were called to the petrol station after reports two men had allegedly broken in.

 

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command were soon on scene where they found an abandoned ute, with a wheelie bin in the tray that contained packets of cigarettes.

 

The Richmond man was arrested in a nearby paddock about 5.30am. The man was searched, and police found a wallet that was not his.

 

A search of the surrounding area was carried out but the second man was not found.

 

A crime scene was established, and an investigation begun into the incident. The area was taped off by police for most of the morning as forensic police officers gathered evidence.

 

The arrested man was taken to Windsor Police Station and charged with goods in personal custody, suspected being stolen, and aggravated break and enter dwelling in company, steal.

 

The man was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow – Sunday.
