SAT COVID UPDATE – BIGGEST HAWKESBURY DAILY INCREASE AT 18 NEW CASES – 1533 NEW NSW CASES
The Hawkesbury has seen the biggest daily increase in cases again in the last 24 hours – going up by 18 to a total of 124 active cases. We’ll keep an eye on that active case number though because if there have been people who have recovered (as happened yesterday with one person) then the total number of active cases may be slightly less. Either way, it’s a big increase in 24 hours. Some 62 of the current Hawkesbury cases are from an unknown source.
Hawkesbury Living aged care home, in Richmond’s March St, have recorded another 4 cases of COVID. In an email to residents, the home said a test on September 1st in the facility came back with one positive case, and September 2nd tests came back with 3 new positive cases – 2 of them in the Wymark wing and 1 from Macquarie Butler wing.
On our count – the home do not give total figures, even to relatives, the home now has – or has had – 26 positive COVID cases, some may have recovered. We’ll try and get more on that today.
There are now close to 11,000 people in NSW with COVID being cared for by NSW Health, Health Minister Brad Hazzard said this morning. Most of those people are being supported or cared for at home, but hospitalisations continue to rise – there are now 1041 people in hospital with COVID across NSW.
Almost 70% of people with COVID at the moment are aged under 40, said Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Jeremy McAnulty.
There were again a record number of people recorded with COVID in the last 24 hours, at 1533, and 90 of those are from Nepean Blue Mountains local health district, which covers the Hawkesbury area too.
Of those in hospital in NSW, 173 people are in ICU and 62 are on ventilators.
