Mar 31, 2022

Source: Bureau of Meteorology

You may have noticed it’s a bit breezy out there at the moment, well, that could increase overnight and into Friday for us.

At the moment the BOM is saying a broad area could be affected, for people in Sydney Metropolitan, Illawarra and parts of Mid North Coast, Hunter, South Coast, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts.

Damaging wind gusts will likely develop over Alpine areas tonight, then over eastern parts of the state by Friday.

Weather Situation: A low pressure system is deepening in the Tasman Sea and slowly moving south, while a high pressure ridge remains dominant over the Great Australian Bight. The combination of these systems will strengthen southeasterly winds overnight tonight before tending southerly during Friday morning.

Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are likely for parts of the Snowy Mountains this evening and overnight tonight.

DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are also possible over far eastern parts of the state between Wooli and Newcastle overnight tonight, then extending southward during Friday morning.
