SUN COVID UPDATE – RAAF RICHMOND CASE – HAWKESBURY CASES RISE BY 13 – 1485 NEW NSW CASES
The Department of Defence has confirmed this morning someone working at the sprawling RAAF Richmond base tested positive for COVID this last week.
We understand the positive person was an Army & Air Force Canteen (AAFCAN) worker who was at the base on Thursday, September 2.
In a brief statement to the Post, today – Sunday – they said, “Defence can confirm that a person working at RAAF Base Richmond has tested positive for COVID-19.
“All appropriate measures are being taken in accordance with NSW Health requirements. Defence continues to work closely with all state and territory authorities who are managing the public health response.”
Numbers of active COVID cases in the Hawkesbury rose by 13 in the last 24 hours which gives a total of 138 active cases in our local government area, and 75 of those are from unknown sources. We will have more detailed postcode numbers focusing on the Hawkesbury later today when those later figures are released.
Of the 1485 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 80 are from Nepean Blue Mountains local health district which includes the Hawkesbury – again more of a breakdown later.
NSW COVID cases number 1485 in the last 24 hours as revealed at this morning’s regular Premier’s media conference.
Hospitalisations continue to climb, now sitting at 1030 in hospitals across NSW with 175 in ICU and of those, some 72 are on ventilators.
Across NSW, 40% of the population are now fully vaccinated, while 73% have had their first dose.
