TUES COVID UPDATE – HAWKESBURY CASES RISE BY 11 – 1220 NEW NSW CASES

Sep 7, 2021

Hawkesbury active COVID cases have risen by 11 in the last 24 hours, which takes our total of active cases to 158.

South Windsor’s two Alphabet Academy pre-schools are closed because of COVID. They are in Macquarie Street and Church Street and on the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority website (a government umbrella organisation for the child care sector) it says the two centres are closed for an health emergency.

The Church St centre has 28 places for youngsters while the Macquarie St centre has 39 places, according to the government site.

We’ve been in touch with the owners and the people who run those two centres so we can get some more details, and have been told, “no comment” which is a disappointing response for anyone in the community wanting to know what the situation is.

Across NSW there are now 192 people in intensive care, with 75 on ventilators and Chief Medical Officer Kerry Chant made the point again this morning that they are across all age groups.

Sadly, there were 2 deaths due to COVID in the Nepean Blue Mountains Health District – which includes our area – and we’re checking to see where they lived. A man in his 50s died at Nepean Hospital. He was not vaccinated.

A man in his 60s died at home. He had one dose of the vaccine but had underlying health conditions, and the coroner has been informed.

As usual we’ll update during the day as more news comes in.
