Varroa Mite Update from NSW Department of Primary Industries

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) will hold the following Varroa Mite Emergency Response local briefing events for Hawkesbury apiarists.

1. Wilberforce community meeting

Tuesday 25 July 2023, 6pm – 8pm

Wilberforce School of Arts Hall, 531 Wilberforce Road, Wilberforce

2. Glenorie community meeting

Wednesday 26 July 2023, 6pm – 8pm

Glenorie Community Centre, 1729 Old Northern Road, Glenorie

At both events NSW DPI will provide local beekeepers and community members with an update following the discovery of the mite in these areas. A light supper will be provided.

NSW DPI will also operate drop-in centres to allow community members to chat to NSW DPI staff with any questions about the response, permit requirements, owner reimbursement costs and hive registrations.

3. Wilberforce drop-in centre

4. Glenorie drop-in centre

Wednesday 26 July 2023, 10am – 3pm

Beekeepers requiring assistance submitting reimbursement claims are reminded to bring along current bank details.

Resilience Officers will also be on hand to provide details about wellbeing and financial support services and providers.
