WED COVID UPDATE – HAWKESBURY 9 NEW CASES – AGNES BANKS COVID DEATH – RICHMOND OOSH TEMP CLOSED

Sep 8, 2021

Sadly a 60-year-old woman from Agnes Banks passed away at Nepean Hospital during the last 24 hours, one of nine COVID-related deaths during that period. She had underlying health conditions.

Hawkesbury has 9 new cases of COVID today, bringing the total of active cases in our region to 167.

Richmond Before and After School Care at West Market St – known as Richmond OOSH – has closed its doors temporarily following 2 positive COVID cases. In an alert to parents, the centre’s director says a child who attended the venue and who tested positive had not been there since Friday September 3 but any children who had been there from Monday August 30 to Thursday September 2 were considered close contacts. Children who were only at the centre on Friday September 3 are considered casual contacts. All need to get tested for COVID and wait for further instructions from NSW Health.

The centre will have a deep clean before reopening.

Vaccination rates continue to climb with 75% of the NSW adult population having had their first dose of vaccine and 42% fully vaccinated.

There were 1480 new COVID cases in NSW in the past 24 hours.

There were 130,341 COVID tests across NSW in the last 24 hours.

There are around 11,000 people with COVID in NS, said NSW Health’s Dr Marianne Gow this morning. 90% of those are being treated under what’s called cared for in community or in special health accommodation.

In hospital there are 1136 COVID patients, 194 of them in ICU and 78 on ventilators. Of those in ICU, 158 are not vaccinated.
