Work begins Monday on new playground for St Albans’ children, with Bilpin to follow
Artists’ impression…
Two new playgrounds are set to open next year in St Albans and Bilpin, with work beginning on the first one this coming Monday.
The playgrounds are being funded through a $1.68m grant from the Federal and the State governments through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund, for areas impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires.
In St Albans, the new playground will include a climbing fort with slides, swings, a nest swing, rockers, obstacle course, voice tubes, puzzle and a roundabout.
The final design was chosen by the community from three potential options.
At St Albans Park there will also be a conversation circle, picnic shelters with picnic tables, pathways and a community artwork. Further community artworks are planned for Bilpin, Colo Heights and St Albans.
Work on the planned new playground at Bilpin Oval will begin on Thursday, October 28 and will include a climbing net, sensory climbing, balance and musical zones, a swing set and interactive play panels.
Work should be finished early 2022.
