Young boy hit by a car in North Richmond to be home soon
Richmond North Public School has confirmed that a young boy hit by a car near the school yesterday is “ok and will be home soon.”
“This is fantastic news. All our thoughts are certainly with him at this time,” the school said in a statement posted to its Facebook page.
“This morning teachers have spoken to all students about what happened and assured them that the student concerned is ok.”
The statement said that the principal would be meeting with the Hawkesbury Mayor later this week to discuss making the crossing points around the school safer for the students.
NSW Ambulance said yesterday that the child sustained leg and arm injuries after being hit by a car in North Richmond. He was transported to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The Toll ambulance helicopter was earlier dispatched to the school, but the fields surface gave way just after landing leaving it stranded.
“The crew exited the helicopter safely and there were no injuries. They then travelled from the landing site to the waiting patient, who was then transported to hospital by road,” a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.
“The helicopter will be assessed on site by engineers and a full spectrum of checks will be conducted over the coming days before it is returned to service.”
