Masks work even with extra large beards…
So far there have been no fines handed out by police in the Hawkesbury for not wearing a mask… which might seem a bit like a non-news story but we thought we’d bring it to you today because across other areas of Greater Sydney (which the Hawkesbury is part of) an increasing number of $200 fines have been handed out for not wearing a mask when it’s mandatory.
A quick recap – from this last Monday you have to wear a mask if you go into a shopping centre, cinema, place of worship, entertainment complex, hair and beauty premises and hospitality venues. If you don’t you can be fined $200 on the spot.
Here’s one of the stories among several $200 fines handed out in other areas of Sydney yesterday, as well as 50 warnings issued in Greater Sydney – so make sure you’re following the rules.
At 3.25pm, officers approached a 54-year-old man who was not wearing a face mask at Glenfield Train Station. The man told officers that a mask wouldn’t work because he has a beard. He was issued a $200 penalty infringement notice (PIN).
