Dec 3, 2021

A man has died while kayaking on the Nepean River in the Hawkesbury.

About 1.20pm yesterday – Thursday – emergency services were called to the river near Springwood Road at Yarramundi, following reports a man was seen and heard calling for assistance in the water before disappearing underneath.

Officers from the Hawkesbury Police Area Command, with the assistance of PolAir, State Emergency Services, Rural Fire Service, NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW, began a search for the man.

A short time later an overturned kayak was located.

About 5pm police divers attended and assisted in the search, finding the body of a 36-year-old man just after 6pm.

A brief will be prepared for the Coroner.
