Music in the Park on at Kurrajong this Saturday after two year absence

Apr 27, 2022

Kurrajong Community Forum is running the Music in the Park this weekend after a break of two years due to heavy rain and then Covid, and it promises to be a great event – family friendly and free.

Mady Disbray will be performing at Music in the Park on Saturday

Featuring performers who span jazz, blues, folk and indie genres, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

“Two years ago we tried to host Music in the Park – at the time we had to postpone due to flooding rains, then COVID lockdowns prevented us again,” spokesperson Lyn Ward said.

Last year the organisers re-imagined the event into the very popular Music in the Village – a series of 6 events across 6 weeks in the local cafés.

“We didn’t give up hope,” says Ms Ward.

“We knew Music in the Park would be possible again and we’re so excited that our village will be filled with music once again.”

The events kick off from 4pm at Memorial Park, Kurrajong, with Mady Disbray who in 2020 was handed the Hawkesbury Australia Day Community Arts Award.

Mady is an acoustic singer/songwriter and plays a mix of music from pop, to folk, and rock to soul. Mady has played at many Hawkesbury venues and is a delight to hear.

Divinia Jean will also perform at the event. She describes her style as a ‘mishmash of genres’ and her indie-folky-jazzy sound has, among other genres, taken her to the Sydney Blues and Roots Festival, the Tamworth Country Music Festival and her proudest achievement has been supporting for Dragon. Divinia is also a talented songwriter, so you’re in for a real treat.

What happens when you mix blues standards with hard grooves and a smattering of modern pop? You get PBT. A band committed to groovin’ blues with a twist. PBT has been playing pubs, clubs, parties and community events since 2018 and they’ll be playing to the end and will wrap up a relaxing fun music event.

Ms Ward said the organisers thanked Hawkesbury City Council and Bendigo Bank North Richmond for their sponsorship, which makes this event possible.

Book your diaries, pack a picnic, warm clothes and comfy seating and enjoy a fabulous community event in Kurrajong.

It begins at 4pm and runs to 8pm at Kurrajong’s Memorial Park
