Official Council correspondence on Lower Portland Ferry

Last night Hawkesbury Post readers would have seen lots of discussion about the potential closure of the Lower Portland Ferry.

To provide clarity to the article the picture shows the questions from the Hawkesbury Post (HP) sent to Hawkesbury Council (HCC) and also, the response to those questions attributable to HCC General Manager Elizabeth Richardson.

The ferry service was only salvaged as a last minute deal in 2019 when the state government tipped in $500k as reported by the HP yesterday. As many readers noted on FB the ferry remains a financial burden on Hawkesbury and Hills Council ratepayers who subsidise each car trip.

 As we stated in our article HCC are engaged in discussions with the operator and we, like many in the community, hope a solution can be found.
