Windsor Girl Guides get new $9000 roof over their heads
When they were allowed back into their Guide hall, Windsor Girl Guides were able to enjoy a more comfortable 2020 thanks to a grant secured by Macquarie MP Susan Templeman to install a new roof.
The Guides received $9000 for roofing and insulation under the Macquarie Stronger Communities grants program.
“The Windsor Guide Hall applied for the grant to complete roofing improvements including insulation to reduce the cost of electricity being used for heating and cooling,” Ms Templeman said.
“Completing these works meant that funds could be freed up for more community activities for the leaders and the children.
“COVID has meant that fundraising activities for organisations like the Girl Guides has been extremely difficult this year, so saving on costs like electricity means a great deal.
“I know the annual Girl Guide biscuit fundraiser moved online this year due to the difficulties of selling door-to-door, and buyers were able to nominate Windsor District in their order to ensure the local Guides received funds.
“I was really pleased to be able to help Windsor Girl Guides with the improvements to their hall, and I do hope the money saved will be a big boost to the girls’ activities in 2021.”
