Weather warning – strong, gusty winds likely this afternoon and evening across the Hawkesbury
The Hawkesbury is set to get some strong winds by late afternoon and into tonight, according to the Bureau of Meteorology just now.
Winds are expected to increase significantly, they say, with gusts of 70 to 90km/hr developing along central and southern parts of the coast as well as the adjacent ranges.
This is likely to flow into the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains areas.
“A few locations along the central coastal fringe may experience brief destructive winds closer to 125km/hr or stronger,” says the alert the Post has just received.
“Downed powerlines and trees as well as damage to structures are likely in some areas,” says the alert.
