Bowen Mountain Rd closed for another two weeks as drainage goes in to prevent landslips
Trucks, buses and cars are having to take extra care passing each other on narrow and winding Westbury Rd as drainage pipes and pits are constructed at a closed Bowen Mountain Road to minimise the ongoing risk of landslip and erosion.
While electronic signs warn of the closure – which began a week ago on June 1 – there is no date on there for reopening, so we asked Hawkesbury Council what’s going on.
Will Barton, the Director Infrastructure Services, said, “stormwater runoff from storm events over the last two years along Carters Road and Westbury Road, Bowen Mountain, has caused erosion and slippage at 3 Bowen Mountain Road and has the potential to undermine the existing road and embankment”.
A detour is in place via Westbury Road.
