COVID by the numbers – Sunday – 5 new Hawkesbury cases – outdoor pools open Monday, vaxxed or not

Sep 26, 2021

Welcome to Sunday evening and the latest in-depth Hawkesbury numbers and COVID local news – the numbers are up to 8pm on Saturday night.

This is the most up-to-date round-up of Hawkesbury COVID numbers you can get, compiled by numbers guru Kevin Pollard using NSW Health datasets.

Our thanks, as always, to Kevin for putting the numbers together in this easily accessible format.

Coupled with our regular news updates when we hear about new COVID venues, this builds into a useful daily source of information for Hawkesbury residents.

Today’s headlines:

* 5 new cases in the Hawkesbury – 4 of which are from an unknown source and not linked

* there are 121 active COVID cases in the Hawkesbury (was 131 yesterday).

* Of the 961 local cases (was 1007 yesterday) reported to 8pm, Saturday, September 25 – 82 (was 66 yesterday) are from Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, which includes the Hawkesbury:

* There were 106,451 COVID tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 108,105.

* There are 636 active cases (was 648 yesterday) in Nepean Blue Mountains LHD

* While Hawkesbury new cases are low today, there have been 22 new cases in 2750 (Emu Plains, Penrith), the highest daily increase so far in the 21-month pandemic. The previous highest daily increase in 2750 was 16.

* And at Castlereagh postcode 2749 there were 11 new cases, the highest daily increase so far in this pandemic. The previous highest daily increase in 2749 was 9.

* Vaccinated and unvaccinated people alike are going to be sharing the same public pools under changes to Greater Sydney’s restrictions (which includes the Hawkesbury) coming into effect on Monday. Whether you’ve had zero, one or both doses, outdoor public pools – that’s Richmond and Windsor’s Oasis for us – are allowed to open their doors to you. Pool staff don’t even have to be vaccinated, though all users do need to sign in using the QR code or manually. The rules at Hawkesbury open air pools are 5 people who are fully vaccinated can go there, or a family group (vaccinated or unvaccinated) or if unvaccinated and not a family group, you can be 2 people maximum.

When attending an outdoor pool, says the NSW government:

  • you will be required to check-in using the QR code and your Service NSW app prior to entry

  • please adhere to 1.5m social distancing

  • you can attend in groups of up to 5 people if fully vaccinated, or groups of 2 people if unvaccinated

  • contactless payment is encouraged

* There are currently 11,634 active COVID cases in NSW.

* There have been 53,088 locally acquired cases reported since June 16, when the first case in this outbreak was reported.

* At the end of today, September 26 of those aged 16-plus: NSW is 60.4% fully vaccinated with 86.1% having had their first dose.

* On active cases, Kevin Pollard says, “Active cases up until 8pm, Saturday, September 25 are not available today so I’ve left it as it was yesterday. Often NSW Health don’t update all their data on weekends.”
