COVID by the numbers Sunday – no new Hawkesbury cases – less restrictions – Qudos vaxx centre closes

Nov 7, 2021

Welcome to Sunday evening and our in-depth Hawkesbury numbers and COVID local news.

This round-up of Hawkesbury COVID numbers is compiled by numbers guru Kevin Pollard using NSW Health datasets, and is up to 8pm on Saturday evening.

Our thanks to Kevin for putting the numbers together and compiling the news snippets in this easily accessible format.

Coupled with our regular news updates when we hear about new COVID venues, this builds into a useful daily source of information for Hawkesbury residents.

* Restrictions will be eased further for vaccinated people in NSW from tomorrow, when there will be no limits on the number of people allowed in homes or at outdoor gatherings.

* Businesses will move to a one-person per two square metres capacity and dance floors and indoor swimming pools will be allowed to reopen.

* Rules around masks at shopping centres and stores will stay until December 15.

* Sydney’s main vaccination hub, Qudos Bank Arena vaccination centre at Sydney Olympic Park will close today as NSW moves its focus to the COVID booster shot rollout.

* Australians could be getting booster shots to combat COVID for years to come, with planned injections every six, nine or 12 months to become an integral part of the national vaccination program, according to the Pharmacy Guild.

* Dr Jeremy McAnulty from NSW Health provided a 4-minute pre recorded COVID update at 11am today.

Our unvaxxed 5 to 11 year olds make up 90% of primary school aged children.

* Regional schools are disproportionately affected – 64% of all closures are in regions outside of Sydney. There are 3107 primary and high schools (Government, Catholic, and Independent) in NSW.

* Maybe this initiative from the US will be used here in Australia but with a character like Bluey fronting it as we move towards younger children getting vaccinated, possibly from January…Big Bird, Sesame Street’s official 8’2 bird announced on Twitter yesterday: “I got the COVID-19 vaccine today! My wing is feeling a little sore, but it’ll give my body an extra protective boost that keeps me and others healthy. I’ve been getting vaccines since I was a little bird, but I had no idea!”

* Victoria recorded 1173 new COVID cases plus 9 deaths after 1343 cases yesterday. There have been 302 COVID deaths in Victoria over the last 32 days.
