F-35A Lightning fighter planes to land daily from Tuesday at RAAF base Richmond for a month
You should get an opportunity to see some of our most powerful war planes this month as up to six Royal Australian Air Force F-35A Lightning II fighter planes from RAAF Base Williamtown land daily at Richmond RAAF base from Tuesday November 1 to Friday December 9.
F-35A Lightning in action…
The jets will arrive daily between 7.30am to 11.30am, weather permitting. Weekdays only – no weekend flying.
“This is part of a series of flying activities adopted in the short term to address restrictions around take-offs and landing for the F-35A Lightning II aircraft while runway works are underway at RAAF Base Williamtown,” a RAAF spokesperson said today – Friday.
“F-35A squadrons need to conduct essential air combat training to ensure operational preparedness, currency and proficiency objectives are met.
“Flying is subject to change, including short notice cancellation, due to variables such as air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability.
“Noise reduction and the environment are vital considerations in the planning and conduct of military flying. Air Force appreciates the ongoing support of the local community,” says the RAAF spokesperson.
