FRI COVID UPDATE – CASES RISE TO 4 IN HAWKESBURY – SEWAGE DETECTION AT RICHMOND – 390 NEW NSW CASES

Aug 13, 2021

COVID cases in the Hawkesbury have doubled to 4 known cases up to 8pm last night and for 3 of those cases the source is currently unknown.

COVID fragments have also been found in the Richmond sewage treatment plant – the last test was on August 9 and has just been revealed today.

In NSW in the last 24 hours – in the worst day yet for the COVID spread in the state – an additional 390 new cases have been recorded, with at least 60 of those infectious in the community.

At this morning’s media conference Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, “I anticipate this unfortunate trend will continue for the next few days.”

There were 128,000 COVID tests carried out in the last 24 hours across NSW.

The Premier said Blacktown and Mt Druitt were areas of growing concern and she asked for people in those areas to come forward for testing, then stay home and also get vaccinated.

Some 105,000 NSW residents got vaccinated yesterday and by the end of today – Friday – 15,000 school students will have received the jab in a process over the last five days.
