Hawkesbury Dressage Club set to celebrate 30 years – saddle-up now for June Championships

May 21, 2021

Hawkesbury Dressage Club (HDC) was founded back in 1991 by well-known A-Level judge Jan Geary who teamed up with other riders from the Hawkesbury and now it’s set to celebrate 30 years in the saddle.

And to mark the occasion, on June 27 the June Championships are on at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre with four categories of competition and lots of prizes and giveaways on offer.

· Open Champions: Preliminary – Big Tour

· Amateur Owner Rider Champions: Preliminary – FEI

· Pony Champions: Preliminary – FEI

· Closed Unrestricted Championships Preliminary – Novice

On offer are championship rugs, reserve championship saddle pads and rosettes. There will also be a new range of merchandise, jackpot classes with cash prizes, and there will be as many FEI classes as possible on the world-class surfaces of the indoor arena.

Make sure you get your entry form in by June 6.

HDC is a great club to join too, providing riders from Preparatory to Grand Prix with the opportunity to compete at the purpose-built Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

This allows horses and riders to benefit from familiarisation in a competition venue with quality facilities, through training days and competitions.

There are three competitions each year with classes from Preparatory to Grand Prix, and three members-only training days, which include private arena time, lessons with EA Accredited coaches, and the opportunity for protocol tests with a qualified judge.

You don’t have to be a member to compete in the Official Competitive classes, but the Club reckons you will want to be after experiencing the venue and the friendly club atmosphere.

HDC is always on the lookout for new members to help make all events special, whether that’s as a general member or having a special role on the volunteer committee, such as Website Designer, publicity, sponsorship, Newsletter Editor, or whatever talents you have to bring the 20-member committee.

Committee meetings are normally held on the second Tuesday of every month in Richmond but since Covid-19 reared its head the club has been holding them online, which makes them easy to attend.

All members are welcome to attend Committee meetings each month and are asked to attend the AGM every November.
