Hawkesbury Police return to broader community engagement as Covid loosens grip

Dec 17, 2020

One of the casualties of Covid was the excellent community engagement from Hawkesbury Police who had to cut back on their commitments during the worst months of Covid.

But with the gradual easing of Covid-19 restrictions, the Commander of Hawkesbury Police Area Command, Superintendent Jim Stewart, has signalled that there will be a return to the police’s community engagement in 2021, “to assist with our objectives of working with the community to reduce violence, crime and fear”, said the Superintendent.

Customer Service Duty Officer at Hawkesbury Police, Chief Inspector Garry Sims APM says, “already a number of plans are underway to deliver information to the community in the first quarter of 2021 including involvement in Safer Internet Day and Hope Walk (February), International Womans Day and Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence (March) and the New South Wales Seniors Festival (April).”

Dates and places for all these events will be circulated through social and Hawkesbury Post, to allow locals to mark their diaries and calendars.

In the meantime, if you would like information about any of these events or to find out if there is an opportunity for you to take part, you can contact Chief Inspector Sims APM by email at 33211@police.nsw.gov.au

“We look forward to working with the Hawkesbury community in 2021 with our engagement strategies to build a safer, more resilient community,” Ch Insp Sims said.
