Hawkesbury’s ever-popular Eisteddfod back after 2-year absence
For 70 years it’s been the springboard for many a local performer and allows anyone with a creative streak to get along and strut their stuff, whether that be dance, singing, speaking choirs, and music, and much more besides.
So say a big hello to the return of one of the Hawkesbury’s most iconic and friendliest events, the Hawkesbury City Eisteddfod.
Like many other events in our region, the Eisteddfod had to close its doors since 2019 due to Covid and floods but this July sees it make a welcome return.
The Hawkesbury Eisteddfod traditionally attracts performers from all over the Hawkesbury district, Sydney surrounds, and even stretching up to the Central Coast.
This year’s Eisteddfod will run from July 31 until August 28.
The solo events will include Dance, Pianoforte, Vocal, Instrumental, and Speech.

There are also School/Community events which include Choral, Bands & Ensembles, Dance Groups and Verse Speaking Choirs.
A feature of the Hawkesbury Eisteddfod which always brings a smile to its entrants is down to a wonderful amount of support from sponsors who kindly donate trophies, medals and money prizes for the competitors.
The annual event is run by a small but dedicated team of volunteers who willingly give up their time to organise and run the Eisteddfod so that our young performers get the opportunity to perform and showcase their talent on a friendly, yet competitive platform.
Right now, the Eisteddfod organisers are looking for volunteers to help with the daily running of the event. If you, or someone you know, has a few spare hours, even 30 minutes, to volunteer, the organisers appreciate you reaching out and contacting them as soon as possible.
The jobs can be as simple as getting tea/coffee for adjudicators, handing certificates out, taking payment at the door, or collecting copies of music.
Entries are now open on the Eisteddfod’s website and close on June 1.
