Learn baseball from one of the greats of the game – ex-Hawks player offering classes

Apr 7, 2021

Heath Gray lives and breathes baseball and has played the game professionally around the world, and now he’s offering Hawkesbury youngsters a way to learn the game without the pressure of every weekend lessons.

Heath’s originally from South Carolina in the US and after playing internationally he came out to to play for the Hawks, falling in love with the area and his now wife, Hawkesbury local Carrie-Anne.

Heath began his pro baseball career with the Waterloo Whiskey Jacks in the US before moving to Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) in Ontario, Canada.

Heath Gray about to smash one out the park…

For the 2015-2016 winter he came over to Sydney and played for Baulkham Hills Kookaburras which competes in the New South Wales State League, a league which acts as a feeder to the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League.

“After playing around the world as well as with the Hawkesbury Hawks I felt I was supposed to make an impact on the baseball scene over here,” Heath told the Post.

“I’ve done plenty of clinics and private lessons but I’ve set my mind on making more of an impact now especially for kids that may not be fortunate enough to be in clubs that have the resources to teach kids how to play the game properly,” he says.

“I’ve always had a passion for baseball and a passion for teaching kids so to me this is the best way to do what I love and make a difference in the community at the same time.”

Heath will be teaching all aspects of baseball…

And with the classes, Heath’s trying something new and very flexible.

The program will be run as a membership class style program. All you do is purchase the credits/hours and then book in whenever you would like to use them each Saturday.

This gives budding players the option of having weekends off without losing money.

“It also gives you the chance to have multiple hours in different classes each weekend as well,” says Heath.

The best part is, you can still get your baseball fix in each weekend around different sports or activities that may come up on a Saturday morning all throughout winter.

“It gives kids the freedom to pick how much baseball they want and when they want it throughout the winter without paying and feeling guilty if they miss sessions for any reason, or feel like they are stuck only getting an hour a week of baseball,” Heath says.

To book, you can print out the form below, or if you’d like more details, or have any questions, you can email Heath on Wombatwoodco@gmail.com

Here’s some detailed info on the classes, and the form.
