Meat truck hits sandstone wall and tips over on BLOR – passenger with compound fractures
The Police Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit (MCIU) is investigating an accident last night on Bells Line of Road, Kurrajong Heights, which saw a truck tip over and a passenger suffer broken bones.
The incident happened around 11pm last night when a refrigerated truck – a Hino 500 – carrying meat failed to take a right hand bend on the wet road coming down from Kurrajong Heights, hit a sandstone wall – referred to locally rather appropriately as Stop Rock – and tipped over.
The driver, a man from Nyngan, was not injured, but the passenger, a man from Tennyson, received multiple compound fractures to his left arm, plus abrasions and cuts to both his arm and hand. He was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
Police, Ambulance, and Fire & Rescue attended, as well as the MCIU and an investigation is underway and continues. The truck was towed away for further examination.
