Mould closes Colo High School today and Wednesday – clean-up underway

It’s a problem affecting many residents across the Hawkesbury as damp conditions continue, but the level of mould at Colo High School has prompted its closure for today – Tuesday and at least Wednesday too – for a deep clean.

The move was announced by Relieving Principal Tara Cullen in a note to parents.

“Following the unprecedented weather across NSW and the recent flooding in the Hawkesbury region, Colo High School has unfortunately been impacted by mould,” said a letter to parents.

“Due to the remediation works required across the school, Colo High School will need to be non-operational from Tuesday 29th March 2022 until Wednesday 30th March. We will reassess on Wednesday and send further communication and plans to our community,” said Ms Cullen.

All students at the school will temporarily learn from home.

“Students will be supported to access online learning by their classroom teachers,” said Ms Cullen.

“I am hopeful this will only be for a very short period of time but will update the community as soon as I have more information.

“We know the best place for our students to learn is in the classroom but the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is our number one priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and advise you when it is safe for all our students and staff to return to our classrooms,” said the Relieving Principal.
